Google realized this and released the Mobilegeddon algorithm update in 2015.

In 2018, Google enhanced their algorithm to Mobile-first Index. This means, Google’s bot will first go to the mobile version, and secondly go to the desktop version.

There are several ways to make your site mobile friendly such as M configuration, dynamic serving and responsive site.

But we strongly recommend to ignore the first two and focus on the third option: making your site responsive.

With a responsive design, a site page’s layout and content will respond according to the device their using.

The great thing is, the responsive design created this without separating different URL and HTML like the M configuration and dynamic serving does.

2. Focus on Mobile-Experience

You can’t just leave the responsive feature do the rest for your mobile SEO.

Still, you need to check whether everything is right and friendly user for your readers.

Double check if your font is in the right size, the website design is user friendly, and etc.

3. Test Your Site

Google search console has the feature to check whether your site has any mobile usability issues.

In order to do that, login to the GSC account, and click on “Mobile Usability”.

Or, you can just use another tool from Google like Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test.

Just put your site on it, and run the test to see the report.


Should Your Site Use AMP?

Accelerated Mobile Pages are the simpler versions of website designed to load super quick on mobile devices.

In fact, AMP load 4x faster than those without.

So, is it a good thing to implement AMP on my mobile site?

Probably no.

We found out that implementing AMP has more drawbacks than without.

We agreed that it offer a fantastic speed. But it limit many function and restriction on CSS.

This means, by implementing AMP, you will no longer can control ads, popup and lightbox, and etc.

In the SEO perspective, it also hurt your link building effort.

By using AMP, your site will show the AMP URL provided by Google instead of your original URL.

This means when someone decided to link to you, there is a chance that they will link to the AMP URL instead of the original URL.
